Pangaea presents: First Touch!

A handpan workshop series geared towards beginners and first time musicians. If you’ve ever been interested in the handpan, or just learning to play a new instrument in general this intro will get you going in no time! With 10 matching scales provided we will run through some basics about the instruments history, playing technique, and a few exercises that will have us all playing together before the end of the 2 hour session, no experience necessary.

About the teacher: This class will be taught by Miguel Santamaria, founder of Pangaea. Miguel a soloist and clinician who’s shared their music at esteemed venues such as Madison Square Garden, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Sothebys, Diana Wortham Theater and more. Having also a rich backround in teaching world percussion and handpan for the last decade plus, he’s taught at festivals such as Asheville Percussion Festival, Pantasia Handpan Gathering, as well as shared workshops in Europe, South America, and hosted online and in person events and fundraisers for other artists in the handpan community from around the globe. Videos of past ensemble projects and workshops will be posted in the comments of the event as well available to see on the Pangaea Page.

Each of these sessions will be limited to 10 people, and will be happening twice on this same Sunday, December 11th. One from 2-4pm, the other from 5-7pm.
